Up for Auction is my 1988 Saleen Mustang #329 with 58,930 original miles in excellent condition. Scarlet Red with red interior and gold graphics, 1 of 1 documented from Saleen. I am the 4th owner of this car. All original single stage paint and interior in amazing condition. Very rare car; 708 Saleen Mustangs were made in 1988; 549 were hatchback and only 5 Saleen Mustangs were made with a red interior and this is most likely the only one left. Car is mostly stock condition and has all original Saleen parts as delivered from the Saleen factory including original Racecraft suspension, original Strut Tower brace, Hurst 5 Speed shifter, Saleen Leather Shift knob, Momo Veloce Steering wheel, FloFit seats and specially ordered when new with 3:55 gears. Comes with correct pioneer radio and equalizer. Car is very clean, in beautiful show condition and runs excellent.

Engine runs smooth, always had Royal Purple Synthetic oil changes. Pictures of the engine show engine is in stock form but there are a few modifications that were done by the original owner including GT40 Heads, Ford Racing Headers, Ford Mass Air Flow sensor (added to all Mustangs in 1989), aluminum drive shaft, DynoMax mufflers, sub-frame connectors and smog pump delete. The catalytic converters are not on the car but I have them to go with the car. Recently, the car has gone through a full tune-up including new coolant, new Ford Motorsport radiator hoses, Ford Motorsport spark plugs, Ford Motorsport ignition wires, Ford Motorsport oil filter, new rear differential oil, and new rear brake pads. There is also new under hood insulation.

Everything works on this car, there are no problems and no leaks. This car has a clean title and never been hit. Overall, the original paint is smooth and mint condition with only a few minor touch ups on the hood, passenger fender and the A-pillar is showing signs of age with paint discoloration / fading (See picture). The Original Pioneer KEH-6050 Cassette Radio comes with the car but is missing the fast forward button. Overall this car is a true collectible and increasing in value. You will not find another one like this. It is after all documented one of one, grabs a lot of attention and has won awards at local car shows. 1988-Saleen # 320 . From 1987 thru 1993 they only made a TOTAL of 59 Saleen Mustang coupes and only 20 something are documented out of a few thousand hatchbacks and convertibles This is the next super rare collectible . This car has very nice interior with the exception of the back seat upper has some sun splits in the middle material, have a little extra material to do repair. Paint is beautiful and has been repainted.

For the 1988 model year Saleen Autosport kicked Mustang production into high gear. Coming off of the championship 1987 Escort Endurance season and moving vehicle production to an expanded facility in Anaheim California, Saleen was on top of the world for 1988.
Saleen Autosport advertised seven standard exterior color combinations and two interior colors for 1988, they were:

Produced in Saleen Autosport’s new Anaheim facility during April 1988 and shipped to Bleakley Ford in May; 88-0421 was a standard Saleen Mustang conversion and contained the expected Ford and Saleen features.
For the 1988 model year Saleen produced 709 serialized Mustangs, 705 were street models with four competition prepared vehicles. The body style breakdown of those street models is, 543 hatchbacks, 137 convertibles and 25 coupes.
Of the 543 street prepared hatchbacks, it is known that 147 were painted Oxford White (paint code 9L). Of those, 18 featured Sand Beige interiors. Fourteen models were equipped with 5-speed manual transmissions, while 4 had the optional automatic.
For the model year 1988 it is known that Saleen Autosport produced a complete total of 106 Mustangs with Sand Beige interior.
From model year 1987 through 1989, Saleen Autosport produced a total of 209 Mustangs with Sand Beige interior. Of those, it is known that 36 were painted Oxford White (paint code 9L).

1988 Saleen Mustang number 689 for sale
Saleen may be making headlines these days for working on the Tesla Model S, but its history and bread-and-butter is all about the Ford Mustang. The rear-wheel-drive Dearborn pony cars singlehandedly put the company on the map in the ’80s. Founder Steve Saleen was already a talented American racing driver when he started the venture, and like many auto industry businesses before him, Saleen went to the track to prove his vehicles’ worth. Now, there’s a chance to buy one of those early racers.
The 1988 Saleen Mustang was upgraded with Monroe shock absorbers, Pioneer sound system, and a Saleen 170 speedo/tach, Saleen body kit, wheels and all signature appointments. All convertible Saleens were converted from LX Mustang models. They all had factory 5.0L V8 engines with optional supercharger, five-speed manual transmission, this car was imported into Australia in 1998 and right hand drive converted for a lady who also had the supercharger removed. It changed hands in 2002 and has been owned by the same owner since and been part of a car collection in Victoria. The original supercharger was sold and fitted to a race car and has had a replacement one fitted.
In 1988 Saleen produced 546 Hatchbacks, 137 Convertibles and 25 Hardtop coupes making this number 689 of a total of 708 cars built.
