Original Article: MUSTANGSDAILY.COM

It was only a few weeks ago that Steve Saleen announced he would once again be taking control of the Saleen brand, and already the company is making use of the familiar logo and branding. At the Fabulous Fords at Knott’s Berry Farm event this past weekend Saleen displayed their current 2012 Mustang lineup in their booth with new banners and badges to reflect the recent name change. The SMS name could still be seen on various places on the cars, although we fully expect the company will update their tooling for all future vehicles.

Currently Saleen offers three Mustang variants, starting with the base White Label ($35,540) that features basic modifications, the Yellow Label (45,540) that adds a supercharger system and 19-inch wheels and tires, and finally the Black Label ($48,000 naturally aspirated, $58,000 supercharged)) that gets a full body kit and interior upgrade.

For the future Saleen plans to revise their lineup with four new models based on the 2013 Mustang including the 302 4V, 302 SC, 302 SSC and 302 X.

SALEEN S281 CONVERTIBLE TO DEBUT AT FABULOUS FORDS FOREVER!

PONTIAC, Mich., April 20 /PRNewswire/ — Saleen Performance Vehicles’ new 2010 S281 convertible will make its first public appearance this coming Sunday at the 25th Annual Fabulous Fords Forever!, hosted at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.

The black S281 production convertible will be making its debut accompanied by a silver coupe and the powerful Saleen 435S. The Fabulous Fords show is one of the premier Ford events in the country and Saleen Performance Vehicles continues its tradition of interacting with the thousands of Ford enthusiasts who attend each year.

The S281, based on the 2010 Ford Mustang, displays a premium level of design consideration, both exterior and interior, with performance to match. It builds on the Saleen tradition of limited-edition, high-performance vehicles for enthusiasts who are looking for an exhilarating driving experience, with refined drivability for real-world road conditions.

The S281 features carefully crafted sculptural detailing, with lines and forms that flow naturally displaying suppleness, power and agility. And power is at the heart of the S281, emanating from a Saleen Series VI.5 twin-screw supercharger and dual-stage intercooler mated to 4.6-liter V8 engine producing 485 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, connected to the rear wheels via a short-throw, five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 final drive ratio.

“For more than 25 years the Saleen name has stood for excellence in design, engineering, and driving dynamics,” said Mike Shields, CEO of Saleen Performance Vehicles. “The new S281 is an excellent example of what those words mean when we craft concepts into real cars. Our team has done a terrific job; I’m proud of them and proud to be offering this car to our customers.”
