TUNICA, Miss., Oct. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — GreenTech Automotive (GTA), a U.S. automotive manufacturer dedicated to developing and producing environmentally friendly, energy-efficient vehicles, today celebrated the grand opening of its new production facility in Tunica, Mississippi.
“We started GreenTech Automotive with the vision to make energy-efficient cars that are so inexpensive the average American could afford to buy them,” said Charles Wang, chairman and CEO of GTA. “In the past five years we have completely redesigned and reengineered the all-electric MyCar; developed strategic relationships with major automotive OEMs; and attracted, trained and retained a dedicated workforce in Mississippi. Completing this state-of-the-art facility, designed and built specifically for GTA’s unique production needs, brings us another step closer to making that dream a reality.”
Gilbert Villarreal, chief operating officer of GTA, provided an update on the company’s operations. “The transition from our pilot manufacturing facility in Horn Lake is nearly complete,” Villarreal said. “Production equipment will be installed and operational this month, which keeps us on schedule to begin production of the 2015 MyCar next month. We’re looking forward to job fairs in November and coming months that will help us reach staffing capacity, and will continue to sign dealers and distributors as we look forward to a productive 2015.”
The facility, located at One GreenTech Drive, Robinsonville, MS, 38664, at a site selected by GTA in 2009, initially will produce MyCar, a two-seat Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) that produces zero emissions, provides segment-leading range per charge and can be recharged via a common 110V AC wall outlet or a 220V AC wall outlet. GTA is moving equipment from its pilot manufacturing facility in Horn Lake, and expects to begin vehicle production there in the fourth quarter of 2014.

0 – 100 Km/h: 3.5 sec.
Top speed: 300 km/h
HorsePower: 650
Engine: V8
About the Limited Edition NFS Mustang
Steve Saleen used his experience designing and building vehicles for the Need For Speed movie to create a Limited Edition Mustang that is at home in the world’s most prestigious car collections . The Limited Edition NFS Mustang adds custom paint wheels, and advanced internal components to Saleen’s top of the line Titanium model to produce a vehicle that embodies the spirit of the Mustang used in the movie.
Form Follows Function
The front of the vehicle features a Saleen Functional Red Butterfly™ Center Induction Hood and a Front Fascia with a High Volume Radiator Intake to maximize the airflow in and out of the engine compartment. Side Skirts with Integrated Brake Intakes and Carbon Fiber Air Vanes deliver cold air to the brake calipers to prevent over-heating.
A Rear Integrated Diffuser allows fast moving air beneath the vehicle to expand creating a low-pressure zone, and a high-downforce rear spoiler keeps the vehicle on the pavement at high speeds. The Decklid Center Insert reduces parasitic drag; while the Rear Fascia with an Integrated Quad Exhaust and LED Race Lamps improve rear-end aerodynamics and style.
Lateral Acceleration
S4 Specific Rate Front and Rear Springs, S4 Front Struts, and S4 Rear Shocks work together to optimize stability around corners while providing perfect control during extreme braking. The Saleen Front and Rear Swaybars and High Durometer Pivot Bushings provide precise steering control while conquering tight corners at racing speeds.
Longitudinal Acceleration
The Limited Edition NFS Mustang features a push button start a 650 horsepower Supercharged 5.0L, V8 Ti-VCT Engine, with a 0-100 km/h time of 3.5 sec and a top speed of 282 km/h. The patented 8th generation Saleen 296 Supercharger™ incorporates a twin-screw compressor which drives an astounding 32 cubic meters of air per minute into the engine adding nearly 200 horsepower to the naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 Ti-VCT Engine. The engine is available with a 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, or a 6-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter and a final drive gear ratio of 3.73:1.
The Six-Pack™ Intercooler System incorporates six cylindrical micro-fin intercoolers providing over 60% more cooling and flow efficiency than the standard 5.0L V8 Ti-VCT Engine cooling system. In addition, the NFS Mustang features a High Volume Intercooler Water Pump delivering 90 liters of water per minute through the cooling system, and a Remote External Air Induction system optimizes the air/fuel ratio within the combustion chamber. The Launch Control App manages wheel traction control for maximum longitudinal acceleration during quick launches that translates to quicker 0-100 km/h times. Finally, Saleen’s Power Flash Performance Calibration maximizes the engine horsepower and torque curves throughout the RPM band.

If you ever wanted to get your hands on a brand new Saleen S7, you’ll have your chance at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show next month. Yes, Saleen has confirmed it will be taking one of the all-American supercars to the show to help spearhead its launch in the Chinese market, and will be offering it up for sale. The presentation will also coincide with the appearance of an S7 in the recently launched Need for Speed movie.
Anyone serious about car collecting would be smart to contact Saleen about its S7 sale. The car remains one of the rawest supercars ever produced in modern times, though sadly production ran for just a brief stint between 2000 and 2004. The S7 weighs only 2,750 pounds but features a 550-horsepower 7.0-liter V-8. The engine is mid-mounted and spins the rears via a six-speed manual transmission.
Saleen is entering the Chinese market together with GreenTech Automotive, which will market the cars under the WM Saleen brand. Saleen will offer its complete lineup of vehicles to Chinese customers, which means a range of custom muscle cars as well as a new supercar and a modified Tesla Model S.
In addition to the S7, Saleen will be using the Beijing Auto Show to showcase a trio of custom muscle cars, a Mustang, Challenger and Camaro, each of which have already been sold to local buyers.
This year’s Beijing Auto Show gets underway April 20. More than 800,000 visitors are expected to attend.
“We are very pleased to bring our vehicles to this massive show and car-crazy audience,” Saleen CEO and founder Steve Saleen said in a statement. “Interest in our cars from China and Asia in general has always been strong.”
