Drivers Talk sits down with legendary racer and vehicle manufacturer Steve Saleen for an intimate interview on his racing days and how that led to the birth of the Saleen Mustang. See pics of his infamous launch of a Shelby Mustang off a 200ft cliff, along with never before seen pics of his early racing days where he rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest racing names in the world.
Our Bring A Trailer game show “Hit the Gas or Sniffing Gas” returns and we get the results of the boys bidding on the 1973 Datsun 240z and watch them take a crack at minty 1971 Lotus Elan Sprint. Molly heads over to the Fabulous Fords Forever show and uncovers a “Hot Pants Pinto,” Sunbeam Tiger, and some other unusual Fords. Plus Drivers Talk News takes a sneak peek at the 2021 Ford F150, along with many other juicy news tidbits.

Early June signals the start of car show season for Ford fans living within the Northeast and Great Lakes region of the United States. The Carlisle Ford Nationals, presented annually at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in central Pennsylvania, had a record-setting 3,196 show vehicles in attendance for this east coast FoMoCo celebration.
An unofficial estimate of 54 Saleen-manufactured vehicles were proudly on display to exhibit Power In The Hands of a Few to all participants and admirers. Our collection of Saleen vehicles for Saturdays Fun Field Car Show ranged from those increasingly popular “four-eyed” 1985-86 editions to the latest 2019 SA-35 as well as rare XP Explorers and a S121 Focus.
With such a fruitful bounty of show cars, here were a few Saleen vehicles of note that we spied over the weekend:
Gratitude and appreciation to all participants, enthusiasts and owners that makes this event so exceptional. Until next year!

This 1989 Saleen Mustang is a time machine to the past. It is owned by the original owner with less then 13,000 miles on the odometer. Steve Saleen engineered these Mustangs to be track weapons! From suspension upgrades, chassis stiffening, and a ton of other changes. Find out all the details of the 1989 Saleen Mustang!

1989 Ford Mustang Saleen
5-Speed, 1 of 161 Produced
Don’t see the need to give a description of this particular Saleen, as its pretty legendary, so I would suggest looking up Saleen SSC if your not familiar. Some of the key points are:
* 1 of 161
* Rear seat delete from Saleen Autosport
* Delete package houses sound system (original)
* Roll bar set up factory original from Saleen Autosport
* Leather wrapped Saleen/FloFit seats in two tone original material (excellent shape)
* 4 wheel disc brake conversion
* Signed by Steve Saleen himself, who was blown away with the cars condition especially the seats as most SSC’s have leather which is worn and faded this car’s interior is new
* Monroe adjustable suspension
* Saleen modified 5.0 (first time Saleen was able to modify a motor and keep the warranty from Ford) 292 HP, normal 5.0’s had 225 HP
Original DP5 wheels in perfect shape with original General VP2000 tires in great shape go with sale along with 17″ Saleen/ Speedline 5 stars currently on the vehicle (DP’s too valuable and impossible to replace reason for additional wheels on the car as it sits).
Car is 100% original and as it left the Saleen factory in 1989 this car is a jaw dropper. If you want the very best and one of the rarest Fox Body’s ever made then this is the car for you and I am sure your aware that SSC’s like this never come up for sale.
Everything works, no leaks, no issues, no stories, and just an amazing vehicle which will surely increase in value as Fox bodies have been sky rocketing as of recent
Car is number 168 as Saleen randomly numbered SSC’s as one might think they would be numbered 1 through 161 but they were not.

We survived Carlisle!!! Held during the first weekend of June in Carlisle Pennsylvania, the Ford Nationals IS the place to be for viewing almost 100 acres of FoMoCo products. 2018 marks our tenth consecutive year hosting Saleen owners during this Pennsylvania landmark event. This year we saw the introduction of Team Saleen as well as an inspired return of both Saleen Automotive and Steve Saleen.
There were an estimated 64 (under 70) Saleen manufactured vehicles on the fairgrounds to proudly display Power In The Hands of a Few to all showgoers. Our collection of Saleen vehicles ranged from the early “four-eyed” 1985-86 editions to the latest trifecta of S302 Black, Yellow and White Labels. With a side dish of those rare vintage XP Explorers and Saleen Foci.
Event support appreciation to Rudy & Betsy Beyer for their effort operating the SOEC tent and appreciation to all participants, enthusiasts and owners that makes this event so exceptional.
