In this segment of The Vintage Vehicle Show, Lance Lambert talks to the owner of a 1993 Saleen Mustang in Burlington, Washington.
Launched during the LA Auto Show in autumn 2013 to celebrate Saleen Automotives 30 years of manufacturing, this pearl white and yellow 30th anniversary appearance package was made available for 302 Mustang, 570 Challenger and 620 Camaro models. Final build was capped to thirty cars total (ten editions in each vehicle series) at a base cost of $95,000.00.
The Saleen Anniversary 30 (SA-30) offered custom Tire Smoke White Pearl exterior paint, color match wheels, custom yellow-silver-white exterior graphics and unique charcoal/white two-tone interior appointments. These commemorative editions were fashioned with Saleen Black Label series exterior and performance enhancements.
Our feature car is 302 Mustang 14-005SA and originally delivered to Ken Pollock Performance Auto in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania.
Number 005 started life as a redirected Race Red GT Premium that was destined to become a George Follmer Heritage Edition. Because of this, it is one of few SA-30 Mustangs to receive a color matching Tire Smoke White Pearl engine compartment. Most SA-30 editions were produced using factory black painted donor vehicles and retained their original black hue engine bay.

2007 SALEEN EXTREME MUSTANG
* SALEEN ENGINEERING CAR
* 5.0 SUPERCHARGED 620 HORSEPOWER
* 600 FT/LB TORQUE
* 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION
* SHAKER HOOD (PROTOTYPE FOR DARK HORSE)
* EXTREMELY POWERFUL
* RARE 1 of 1 PIECE OF SALEEN HISTORY
This is an EXTREMELY unique mustang. The S302-E Came in a small handful of varieties in the years 2008-09. The Extreme models have a hand built, forged, 5.0 supercharged v8 that produced 620 horses and 600ft/lb torque. This was the car they used in 2007 as a prototype for this engine, shaker hood/supercharger combo, and their 2008 design. To my knowledge it is the only 2007 model that has this equipment. The other, still rare, 2007 Saleen Extreme cars have standard bore 4.6 GT engine and produce 550 horsepower. The sticker price on the 4.6 extremes was still over 70K, and you couldn’t get your hands on one of these very rare 5.0 Extremes for under 83k. Only the limited edition ‘Dark Horse’ model was equipped as well with the Shaker hood. This car blows away a GT500 in every aspect of performance, and rarity. At the very bottom of this page, the last picture shows information on the car when it was done with Saleen engineering and given to a Saleen dealer in Michigan for sale. This Extreme should be compared with the likes of a Super Snake prototype. The Saleen body & styling are the pinnacle of class and design. You won’t find another mustang example like this ever again. Put it in your collection ,or have one of the baddest drivers on the road.

Techco International was launched in 2008 as an engineering services and performance parts entity. Based in Anaheim, CA Techco was staffed with a collection of former Saleen Inc personnel from the previous company’s 25 years of existence. As per agreement, Techco was to supply engine, suspension and appearance items for serialized vehicles produced by SMS Limited (Steve Saleen’s SMS Supercars) while selling performance parts and services direct to customers under this new Techco brand.
For a brief period of time, Techco International was a full-service speed shop offering many items originally engineered for S197 Saleen Mustangs as well as improved versions of similar OE Saleen items.
Now lets take a look at 05-0683 S281 Supercharged, a 2005 Saleen that went through the Techco finishing school of high performance bliss.
Enjoy!

Results of dyno run from June 2013:
Went to the dyno today and have some updated numbers with proper SAE correction factor. Pretty pleased overall. I got third place with 561HP. A fox body race car made 673HP and there was a 1990 300ZX that put over 730HP down. Lots of other nice cars…2013 Viper (529HP) and a 911 (476HP).
Updates as of April 2014 include:
* CSF Radiator
* Upgraded to 2007+ cooling lines and crossover
* 170 deg thermostat
* Pioneer AVH-4000NEX Stereo (I can control volume, seek, source, and launch Siri right from my GT500 steering wheel)
* Ambient Lighting center console
* 65mm FRPP throttle body
* Cortex Watts Link
* Griggs Coilovers
* Welded and painted axle tubes
* Moser axles
* WMS Stealth Hood Pins
* Replaced exterior badges and horn badge
* Added factory weather strip to rear of hood where it meets cowl (allows you to get cold air from outside into the passenger compartment instead of sucking in hot engine air)
Results of dyno run from May 2014:
Went to a local car show today and they had a mobile dyno so I figured I would give it a shot since I added the throttle body and improved (but not eliminated) my belt slip. I was very happy with the results. 608 SAE Corrected HP at the wheels. Uncorrected it was 620RWHP. This was all on my street, 93 octane tune. Probably get 10 more HP with the 100 octane tune. Also saw Seethrough there with his sweet Barricade replica. Awesome car and workmanship!

2008 Ford Mustang Saleen Sterling Edition #1 Car Of 25
2008 Ford Saleen Sterling SA-25 GT Premium
#1 Of Only 25 Ever Built
Only 1,452 Miles
#1 of 25 built
620 Horsepower
This Is Your Chance To Own A True Piece Of American Muscle Car History. This 2008 Ford Saleen Sterling Is The Actual #1 First Car Built In A Run Of Only 25. This One Is THE TRUE ORIGINAL SALEEN STERLING!!!
According To Steve Saleen – Of The 25 Built, 6 Have Been Destroyed, 9 Were Sent Overseas (mostly to the middle east), and 2 Are Now In The Mustang Museum. That Leaves Only 8 Of These Beauties Roaming The American Classic Muscle Car Landscape. Well, One Of Those 8 Is Right Here At PM Standley Motorcars – An American Tradition Since 1944!!! And Not Only One Of Those 8, But THE ONE!!! That’s Right, The #1 Car. Don’t Miss Your Chance – This Is The Rarest Of Finds!!!
The ultimate Mustang, to many, is a Saleen. More power, more attitude, and more exclusivity. If that sounds like a great investment, it is. Special edition, Saleen-built cars hold their values much better than standard Mustangs. If you’re looking for the best of the best, the top dog in the Saleen chain, it’s here: This is the umber 1 car of a mere 25, 2008 Saleen S302E Sterling Edition. 620 Horsepower, a complete, exclusive-color repaint with painted stripes, a bespoke interior and wheelset, and even a 16 ounce sterling silver commemorative plaque on the dash. The odometer shows only 1452 miles, there are no stories or issues, and the car is perfect. Sterlings originally sold for $100,000 and up, and after the original sale, the value often topped $150,000.
Twenty five years ago, Steve Saleen realized he could do a better job building high performance cars than could a major manufacturer. Then, as now, he utilized the Ford Mustang as a starting point before tweaking the suspension and adding in power. The finished vehicles are not simple bolt-on “tuner” models–Saleen is a licensed small volume manufacturer of vehicles, and a Saleen’s title reflects this. Every five years Saleen has released a commemorative edition for their anniversary which showcases the best technology available for the Mustang chassis. This time around, the 25th (sterling) anniversary, the ante’s been raised to an underrated 620 horsepower, wrapped in special paint with a unique interior and wheelset. Appropriately, this rocket ship’s been named the Saleen Automotive SA-25 Sterling Edition with a production run of only 25 copies–how’s that for exclusivity?

Hey Saleen-fiends, whose ready to start getting out with your fellow Saleen-brethren this year? Our usual kick-off, as will be again this year, is the Gullo 6th Annual All-Ford Car Show, hosted by the Northside Mustang Car Club on May 9. Located at Gullo Ford in Conroe, TX, NMCC and the great folks at Gullo pull out the stops to make this a great event.

A great event deserves a great flyer…
Big thanks to Scott for putting together a beautiful flyer for this years event!
Scott’s heading over on Saturday morning from the Austin area and offered to lead a group over:
“I’ll be going to Houston from Round Rock on Saturday morning… if anyone wants to drive with me we can do that. It will be early. I’ll post up details when I get them.”
Anybody else willing to lead groups in, either Friday or Saturday? Let me know and I’ll get the word out.
