Up for sale is a 2005 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo (one of 20 made) finished in custom Bianco Fuji (Ferrari) pearl white. I purchased the car three years ago after it was damaged from an incident with a tow truck. The damage was 100% superficial (body damage only) with no mechanical damage whatsoever. Due to the body damage it was necessary to repaint the whole car which gave me the opportunity to do so in pearl white (making it arguably one the of nicest S7s in existence). My initial intention was to repair the body and paint the car. Nothing more. But as all good plans go this did not happen.
It was evident to my body shop that the car was not assembled well from the get go (when originally manufactured). The factory hand assembled car had a number of fit and finish issues completely unrelated to the accident. For example some of the wiring behind the dash was actually glued together with silicone globs! Inside the side gill vents the carbon surfaces had not been sanded nor painted properly (my body shop said it was very difficult to sand and paint inside the side gills so they simply weren’t done). None of the channels under the rubber moldings were sanded properly because no one could see them. All the details – major and minor – were rectified resulting in a finished product that is literally better than when it was new! Unfortunately all this came at a cost that initially was intended to be around $60k and ended up costing over $100k!
Today the car is unquestionably the most perfect example of a Saleen S7 in existence. I have photos of the car when it was damaged to prove that the damage was mainly superficial. Due to the nature of this unique and rare car the original owner demanded that the car be salvaged so he could recoup the complete cost of the car. In no way should it have been salvaged. Fortunately it has been returned to better than its former glory and hopefully it will grace someone’s collection with the pride it deserves.
With only 20 examples in existence a clean titled Saleen S7 Twin Turbo is arguably a $600k car today. Forgetting the title issue for a moment my car is the best example of a S7 in existence. It was repaired right and clearly shows that way. Inspections are welcome. I can even put you in touch with the two certified Saleen techs to ever touch the car for service. There is no better example. Unfortunately the title is marred and therefore the value has been reduced accordingly. The car is located in Costa Mesa, California and interested (and serious) buyers are welcome to see it. Title is in hand. No trades please. No tire kickers. No lowballers. This is not a fire sale. Feel free to email me with any questions.

Description
Lot #239 – The current owners purchased this Saleen Mustang #171 in November 1990. The car features a 5.0-liter engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. It has been driven very minimally, and it has been covered and garage stored since that time. It is in very nearly as-new condition. 7,970 actual miles. Copy of original factory invoice to Kingman Ford in Kingman, AZ ship to Saleen Autosport in Anaheim, CA. Original owner was in Mesa, AZ. The vehicle has been in Arizona and New Mexico since new.
Back in the 80’s Carrol Shelby was working for Chrysler when Ford introduced the all-new Mustang. Steve Saleen stepped up and built his Saleen Mustang to fill the performance void.
When people talk about the most powerful Mustangs of all time, the Shelby versions come straight to mind. People forget that there was a time that Shelby licensed his name to Chrysler. They badged trucks and awful cars with the Shelby name in the 80’s.
When Ford reintroduced the Mustang in the 80’s, Steve Saleen started his company modifying and upgrading the new cars. Out of his Southern California shop helped bring back the muscle car from the ashes. The lightweight platform of the Mustang and its 5.0L engine was ripe for modification.
After seeing what Saleen was able to do, the executives at Ford made a trip to Corona California and a great partnership was formed. Some forget supercharging street cars was not very common at the time. Saleen started supercharging the 5.0L engines and laid the groundwork for what we see today. (Editor note: Saleen approached Ford Motor Company / Ford Motorsport for approval of the “Saleen Mustang” package before production began. The facility in Corona CA opened for the 2010 model year.)
As a southern California kid, I saw the growth of Saleen Mustang firsthand. He did not just build cars for dealerships, you could take yours to him and he would transform it to your specifications. He would take the 5.0L LX, not GT, Mustangs and turn them into beasts of the time. His road racing history helped him develop a road-friendly monster of the time. He developed his own supercharged 351 that powered his cars for years. (Editor note: Most of the serialized Saleen Mustangs from 1984-2009 were vehicles supplied through dealer inventory, pool vehicles or dropped ship units from the factory.)
It is easy to forget, the 80’s were not a great time for cars. We had come out of the fuel crisis age and there were land yachts and fuel savers. It was a hard time to be a car guy. The Saleen Mustang reminded us that cars could be fun. His cars were not sleepers, his name was in bright white letters on the windshield and graphics on the bottom of the doors. You knew it was a Saleen from a long way away.
Saleen kept on building Mustangs for Ford from the fox body era to through the early 2000’s. His impressive resume was written in three generations of the Mustang. He continues to build Mustangs long after his partnership with Ford ended.
Once Shelby returned to Ford, it was not long before Saleen was pushed out the door. He continued to build his cars, but they were not sold out of dealerships anymore. Without the factory support, Saleen Mustangs became a niche product. He expanded his aftermarket lines and even developed a supercar of his own, but has not found the popularity he had in the 90’s. (Editor note: Saleen vehicle production hit a zenith from 2005 through 2007 with over 1,500 units annually. Nearly a thousand units annually were produced in 2000 and 2001.)
The values of the Saleen Mustang’s have been slowly rising on the auction market. Hopefully, people will not forget what Steve Saleen did for the Mustang brand and street performance. I will always remember Saleen as the savior of the muscle car. In a time when nobody else would build it, he revived the market.

Here we have an auction for a truly one of a kind and quite rare Mustang. This is the documented FIRST SALEEN COBRA Mustang ever produced. This is a 1996 model, Saleen Number 96-09 and is the first ever Saleen produced with the Cobra engine. It was made specifically for a high member of the MCA (Mustang Club of America) who knew Steve Saleen and was able to get him to specifically build his “Wish”. The Saleen registry documents and verifies this to be the very first produced and from what we can tell is also one of the only ones (if not the only one) to come with the black and gold striping, gold rims and the COBRA Interior over the more common Saleen Recaro interior.
This car is absolutely all original, purchased by the first owner and bought by myself who chased the car for years knowing it was a piece of Mustang history. This is all original, no modifications, no crashes, nothing even repainted. We have kept this as original and stock as possible. The paint, top, engine, transmission are all original, The exhaust is all original, The only things we have changed have been the tires and battery. This is a factory Black car, Black Cobra Interior Black Top, Factory 4.6L DOHC Cobra Engine, 5 Speed Manual Trans. It is a factory “SPEEDSTER” model and comes with the matching (and all original Speedster top). We have enjoyed this and had it to many east coast shows, always taking a trophy wherever it goes, Most people think it is “just” a Cobra with Saleen badges but you can check the Registry to verify what this is. The top is still great with no rips or tears, Everything works (don’t believe we even replaced a power window motor in this one in all these years!) The Windshield banner “SALEEN” is even original but starting to peel (I don’t have to heart to change it being everything – and I mean everything has been kept original). All the decals have been preserved, cleaned with care so they never washed off. Even still have the original SALEEN Floor mats. Signed in the trunk by Steve Saleen as shown.
Car is located in Central NJ for local inspection or pickup. Buyer responsible for transport, Payment due within 10 days of auction end $500 Deposit with paypal ideal. The Dash and Engine ID Plaques are of course still in place and have never been removed, as is the COBRA Specific “BUILT WITH PRIDE” Signed Decal on the Plenum. The SALEEN Cobra was on Mustang Monthly’s 25 Rarest Production Mustangs of all time – and this is car NUMBER 1!!! I of course recommend towing it but trust it to drive anywhere if that is the buyers choice, this one never let me down.

These Saleen S281 “Extreme” Mustangs were Saleen’s last real hurrah. They are the most powerful and rare variant of Saleen’s line of modified Mustangs. They claimed 600 horsepower from a supercharged 4.6L V8, although according to the owner of this clean example, it made nowhere near that when they got it. This one now makes 500 wheel horsepower with a soundtrack to match.
