2015 SALEEN 302 BLACK LABEL RENDERING DEBUTS DURING ANNUAL CAR SHOW & OPEN HOUSE

Some of the mystery about the 2015 Saleen 302 is solved. The renderings of the full front and side of the new Saleen 302 were revealed at the event. Typically a novelist will reveal the details of the story in various chapters. Steve Saleen is keeping fans in suspense for yet another chapter.

Ford has chosen to produce the 2.3 Liter EcoBoost Mustang to begin the 2015 model year. The EcoBoost engine will have 310 horsepower and 320 lb-ft. of torque with a Best-in-class 21 city/32 hwy/25 combined mpg.

The EcoBoost Mustang might be ok for many Mustang enthusiasts, but performance oriented Saleen fans are waiting for the release of the 8 cylinder 302 Mustangs. The renderings of the 2015 Saleen 302 Mustang have satisfied a little of the curiosity that surrounded the Saleen event. Patience will be necessary to get to the last chapter of the novel.

The photos below are informal images taken during the event. Formal photos will be posted later. These images compare the 2015 Ford Mustang to the 2015 Saleen 302.

REAR VIEW: 5th ANNUAL SALEEN SHOW & OPEN HOUSE

PHOTOS & TEXT: CHRIS YANNUZZI

I had been in San Diego, CA from 1998-2001 while I was in the Navy. During this time I was part of a local Mustang club, with my 1997 Cobra convertible. During the Fall of 2000, the president of our car club set up a cruise to the Annual Saleen Car Show in Irvine, CA. So we headed up there and got registered for the show.

I knew of the Saleen Mustang due to being in the club, but never saw one up-close and I never thought I would be able to afford one on a E-4 paycheck. As I walked around, I was amazed at the beauty of each Saleen that was lined up for the show (and being a hater, I’m not going to lie – lol) I heard a roar of an engine and as I looked up at the main street, I saw Steve and Liz pull up in the first Saleen S7 (the color was silver). He was followed by a Saleen Explorer and as he reversed into a location in the center of the show, a group of guys jumped out of the Saleen Explorer and surrounded the S7 with velvet ropes. I was in awe of the S7, the show, the other Saleens, the Mystic SR (no engine) in the showroom, etc!!! I was HOOKED!!! At that show I took a pic of me and Steve together. Looking back it kinda seems creepy, since I didn’t know I would be a owner of one of his vehicles in the future.

Fast forward 9 years later (two more kids and a paid off Suburban and living in Austin, TX) – I was Finally able to pounce on my prey. Low and behold was a Ultra Rare Legend Lime Saleen S281 Speedster. Not only was that PURE AWESOME, but it had already had tons of mods done to it. An Extreme upgrade to it give it 550 horses, intake upgrade, and full exhaust upgrade w/ long tube headers and only 6k miles on the beast!!! It happened to be tucked away in a garage with its first owner never driving it because he worked out of state. I snatched it up and have enjoyed it ever since – She is nicknamed the 2nd wife!!!

SALEEN MADNESS

By: JUSTIN KAEHLER on September 11, 2006
Original Article: IGN.COM

High performance Mustangs take over Orange County

Ford tuner/supercar builder Saleen shut down a few Orange County streets and opened the doors to its headquarters for its 10th annual open house/car show.

Saleen (the company) let the Saleen Owners and Enthusiasts Club (SOEC) take over its manufacturing headquarters so that everyone could celebrate all things Saleen (the car). Though this car show was technically open to any and all cars, this event was pretty much dominated by all things Ford-powered and Saleen-tuned.

Though a few S7s and Saleen-tuned F150s were on hand, the car of the day was the Saleen Mustang. All generations of Saleen-tuned ‘Stangs were on hand, which is great for the Saleen Mustang fan, not-so-great for those looking for a bit of variety. Don’t get us wrong, we love Saleen Mustangs as much as the next certified gear-head. It just seems as if most of these cars are picked up by the type of guy that spends one too many hours watching the Barrett-Jackson auctions on TV and not-so-secretly hopes that his Saleen Mustang will be the next million-dollar car. Most of these Saleen Mustangs look as if they rarely come out of the garage, let alone see any sort of track time. Whatever happened to buying a race-ready car and taking it racing?

Of course, we have to admit that it was a treat to see some very clean mid-80’s Saleen Mustangs. We loved these cars ever since we were kids, and finally seeing one in real-life was almost as cool as seeing an actual DeLorean. Yes, we are using this paragraph to admit that we seriously loved tuned American muscle back in the day, so perhaps you guys will give the “import bias”-thing a bit of a rest…

As we mentioned in the opening sentence, Saleen also opened the doors to its factory. It wasn’t “operating” at this time, but show-goers could still see how Saleen is able to turn ordinary factory Fords into high-performance Saleens.

In fact, Saleen even had a separate section showing the frames and naked carbon fiber bodies of its S7 supercar. It’s amazing to think that this little cage is the basis for the S7…

Did you know that Saleen tunes more than just the Ford Mustang? Check out this Saleen-tuned Focus. This was the only one at the show… We sure would have liked to see more of ’em, though.

While we had a great time at Saleen’s open house, we left wishing for more. Saleen’s Mustangs were well represented, but we only saw the one Saleen Focus and zero Saleen Contours. We know that Saleen has them – we saw them at the Los Angeles car show a few years back. Here’s hoping that Saleen will dig those cars out for next year’s show…

While we wait for the triumphant return of the Saleen-tuned Focus and Contour, why don’t you check out our Media Page for our massive gallery of all things Saleen. Enjoy!
