Not a kit, not an aftermarket upgrade… Saleen S-281SC #02-603 Supercharged Speedster Convertible w/ 18×10″ rear wheel/tire upgrade, Mach 1000 audio system w/ in-dash 6-disc changer, etc… Saleen VIN 1FAFP45X12F194949.
This is the only “white-out” supercharged speedster (white paint, white wheels, white top, white seats) manufactured in a span of 3-5 years. It’s been awhile but yes, I’ve literally gone through every VIN in “The Saleen Book”, which covered every Saleen produced until 2003, and the last one made prior to this was made in something like 1998 or 99. That was also the more rounded body style, nowhere near as cool. I didn’t know this when I was first shopping, so I just got very lucky “holding out” for this look, not realizing it was so rare, and then stumbling across it at the right moment.
I’m the 2nd owner (owned since 2004, purchased on Ebay via a California dealer, actually), still low miles and immaculate. Garage kept and kept covered. Even the typical minor (if you’re lucky) road rash is not present here thanks to recent professional repainting of the body kit and rear bumper after scraping the back bumper on a ridiculously tall curb. *Noticed the title check says 3 owners – I’m the 2nd and 3rd as far as title is concerned -having registered the car in both CA and OK over the years. (For those concerned, this car has never has been exposed to any sort of inclement weather, salt, sand, etc.) Only a few thousand miles on the tires, if even that.
Saleen upgraded the supercharger in late 2005 after it started making a weird noise. They blamed this on the original owner improperly installing a pulley upgrade on the supercharger spindle. Basically they claimed he hammered it on and bent the spindle in the process. Either way, it resulted in getting a brand new and updated supercharger. The only issue I’m aware of with this car is that said supercharger upgrade slightly changed the run length of the cruise control cable, and I never got that replaced. Other than that, this thing is crazy clean and running perfectly.
Hate to let her go as this is seriously my favorite Mustang that’s ever been made, but finances force me to sell. Original window sticker and current (7/10/15) NADA valuation included in pics… $51,600 new, vs. an NADA valuation based on $43,299. Please note I never had the “speedster” rear seat cowl, as it wasn’t with the car when purchased, and that the quotes also do not include the speedster cover, or the low mileage, nearly 100k miles under a typical 02 model’s daily-driver mileage. Unfortunately you don’t get to get very specific, thus the wide value range shown in the NADA estimate.
$500 non-refundable deposit due immediately at close of listing. Balance due within 7 days via cashier’s check or personal check. Vehicle will be released to shipping agent once payment is cleared. If you don’t have a vehicle transport company in mind I can refer you to one I’ve used a couple times without incident. Thanks for checking out my listing.

I am the first owner of 1987 Saleen Mustang #192, a white convertible with blue stripes and white Ford leather interior. 87-0192 was delivered and purchased through Jim Click Ford in Tucson, Arizona. I owned #192 for 5 years, from new… until I sold her in 1991 with about 10k miles on the odometer. This sale was forced due to bad financial times with my parents. I would be interested in buying #192 or at least know that she’s in good hands for the moment. Message me with any leads on the whereabouts or ownership history.

Chances are if you are looking at this add then you know what this car is but for the benefit of those that do not this car is one of 160 built. The first model Saleen modified the engine performance on. it is a two seater with a factory roll bar and Pioneer sound system. This car is a great unmolested original. it does have an offroad H-pipe because the original cats went bad. It is a true 29K mile car. The original cockpit adjustable suspension is still in place. un-cracked DP5 wheels. The car has spent sometime outside as the original owner’s wife drove the car to work daily. the side stripes are discolored from the sun, the rear carpet is faded, and the rear quarter window moldings need to be refurbished. It needs a battery, rear shock bushingsOverall the car is in good shape just needs some TLC
This Saleen Mustang SSC(the 25th Anniversary Mustang that Ford never made) is number 44 of 161 produced in 1989. It carried a $36,500 sticker price which was rather significant, considering the 5.0L LX sold for $15,000. The Saleen SSC had a top speed in the neighborhood of 156 MPH and were fitted with a 4-point roll bar with rear seat delete. They had electronic cockpit ajustible struts and shocks, 200 watt Pioneer sound system, leather interior and special DP5 wheels.
The car does need a few things power door lock actuator on the drivers side, fuel sending unit, rear shock bushings. The original cockpit adjustable suspension is still in the car. I am the third owner of the car and have owned it since 1997, the majority of that time it has spent sitting in the garage, it has not been registered in probably the last 12 years. This car is in original condition needs a little tlc but is a great low mileage all original car.

My loss is your gain!! For sale is the first year run of the Ultimate Bad Boy Mustangs. This vehicle was commissioned by Tim Porter and built by Saleen for the promotion of the 2007 Great American Run. a 3,000 mile cross country road race. Originally 25 cars were slated to be built, but the actual production numbers were 9. 8 black cars and 1 red. This vehicle was raced in the event under the name of “Half Evil Racing” car #333. It is featured in the documentary film “The Great American Run”, by National Lampoon. These cars RARELY come up on the market so don’t miss your chance to own a limited production collector’s dream. Car has 22,000 miles, garaged, and driven once a month. The only flaws are small area of scuffing on clear bra from chunk of tire thrown up by vehicle that can be buffed out or bra replaced, small tear in the shift boot, few chips on painted wheels, and new front carbon splitter due to old one being cracked when I purchased the vehicle. Clutch is beginning to slip, but car is fully functional. This vehicle is listed WELL below NADA retail and can be easily researched to verify.

Does anyone have any info as to where 1990 Saleen SC Hatchback #19 wound up? I bought the car from Jim Stafford at John Bleakley Ford in Lithia Springs, Ga. I only had it for a short time and it was stolen from my driveway in Riverdale, Ga. The thieves joy rode the car and burned it. The shell as well as the motor & drivetrain was last seen at the impound yard in Fairburn, Ga in 1992. I saw a post on here from someone claiming to have 90-0019 in red. 90-0019 was not a red car, it was black with silver decals and grey interior. It was also an SC, one of 13 SC’s built out of 256 total cars that year.
From our friends at Saleen Club of America.
Once upon a time, I owned 96-0356, a Rio Red Saleen Mustang S281 Speedster. According to Carfax, the car has changed hands a few times since I sold it, and was last seen in Northern California … maybe 2 hours north of where I live now.
I sold it to a dealer named Kassabian Motors, now known as My Hot Cars (myhotcars.com), who in turn sold it to owner #2. As you’ll see on the report, owner #4 registered it in Rohnert Park in 2011. I currently live in Lafayette, CA, so Rohnert Park isn’t too far, but just far enough that I can’t really pop up there and wait for it to emerge every weekend.
It doesn’t list as totaled or salvaged, yet with no additional maintenance entries, I assume it’s either serviced by the owner, or is registered as Planned Non Operational.
The VIN of my car is 1FALP45X6TF217386. I have checked with local Mustang clubs in Sonoma County, and haven’t gotten any responses from them. It doesn’t appear to have been serviced in the last few years, or at least not at any shop that would register such service in a way that it would appear on Carfax.
I sold 96-0356 prior to getting married in 1998. My divorce will be final soon, and I’d like to pick up where I left off with my car.
Thanks!
-Clay Loveless
