This car is beyond words, or the pictures I can provide. This 1000+ horsepower mustang, NHRA certified to do 8.5 seconds, and show quality without blemish to compete with some of the best cars ever built… Can’t be properly described with the words and pictures I can provide. When turned on, this car shakes our entire building, and it sounds absolutely incredible when revved up, almost deafening. If you are a serious collector, or horsepower freak, this car might be for you. There is only one car like this in the world, and it would have cost $200k plus to build. It is a Saleen Speed-labs built car, with one of the most beautiful beryllium orange paint jobs we have ever seen. There are many custom one ‘of’s’ on this car. It has tons of modification to reduce weight, including carbon fiber body panels (hood, trunk) as well as much more. It is around 1000 pounds less than a similar Saleen. This car was owned by Ed Hinker, Mustang enthusiast and close personal friend of Steve Saleen. When Steve was asked a couple months ago about the value of this car, he said at least $130k. It is extremely limited. There were only 25 of these cars produced, 6 of them were destroyed, 9 of them are not in the country. Making this one of 10 here in the states! There are two others available at this current moment being sold by the Mustang museum. Both of them are asking $97k. We have been lucky enough to get our hands on some of the ‘regular’ S302E Extreme mustangs, and they usually go for mid fifties with some decent mileage. We are offering this car at an ABSOLUTE steal. These cars were MSRP’d at $99,950, but many sold for way more money originally. This one sold for $120k new. This is Saleen & Mustang history. This is the S302E- STERLING DR #26. Although this car is listed as #26, it is the very first Sterling to be produced. This car was built, and immediately sent to Saleen Speedlabs to create the ultimate race car. This car produces 835 HORSEPOWER at the engine, which creates over 700 wheel horsepower. This car can HOOK it also. After the Sterling was given to the Speedlabs, over $130k was invested into the car to turn it into what it is today. This car is non-duplicatable, but if it was, it should cost close to $200k to produce. It comes with TONS of extras as well, including the original sterling wheels, Saleen seats, and a bunch more! This car is programmed to run on race fuel, or can easily be programmed for 93 octane as well. This car is so powerful it can do a wheelie!!! When Saleen (the company) turned 25 in 2008, it produced limited-edition Mustangs to commemorate its Silver Anniversary. Twenty-five Sterling Edition S302E (E for Extreme) Saleen Mustangs were built, plus one special”DR” drag race package, taking the 26th spot.

After the Sterling Edition appearance package was added by Saleen Speed Lab, A high performance JDM 298ci was dropped in. The power plant is fortified with a forged-steel crankshaft, and JDM-spec Manley rods and pistons, which produce 9.8:1 compression under the JDM/M2 Race Systems CNC-ported Three-Valve cylinder heads.

The intake charge a Saleen twin-screw supercharger with 17psi and separate cooling system.

American Racing headers into a 3 inc. H-pipe Saleen exhaust. Dyno at 708rwhp with 697 nlb-ft torque.

This is the only Sterling Edition built with a tuned 5 speed automatic transmission with a 2,500-stall Precision Industries torque converter. Spins an aluminum drive shaft, which links to an 8.8-rearend housing with 4.30 gears, along with Strange spool and axles.

To ensure traction, Saleen struts and springs support the nose, while BMR K-member cradles the engine. Saleen shocks and springs hold up the rear, and a BMR anti-roll keeps the car level. Bogart wheels and Mickey Thompson sit on all 4 corners.

When you open the door you are greeted with more uniqueness, carbon-fiber buckets from the Saleen S7 supercar and swing out 6 point roll bar with harness. The last car number- but first Sterling built in 2007 for the intro of the 25th anniversary complete frame up special build with automatic trans unlike the 25 that were built in 2008. Signed by Steve Saleen and John Force.

This car was prepared as if for show, but with plenty of go. it does see some road use but more fun on the strip.

No problem for my son who can handle any manual transmission & power shift just like his Dad could 10 years ago.

Are you happy son? I actually put in writing for the 1st time ever that you can actually out drive your old man! However, i had to hit 65 and start collecting my social security before you were better than I as a performance driver.

To get that kind of performance, the Saleen team had to get S302Es power to the ground. This is accomplished with standard 20 inch, 5 spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires.

Since power is nothing without control, the Extreme also features a Saleen Racecraft suspension and an all new, second generation Watts Link system that is sure to help the driver maintain control through the corners. The chassis system is rounded out by upgraded 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS and traction control. This performance brake system features 15 vented, slotted rotors with 6 piston calipers in the front and 11.8 rear vented discs with single piston calipers in the rear.

This truly is one heck of a ride! Not for the inexperienced driver or faint of heart!

CLOSER LOOK: SA-20 EXTREME (03-0010SA)

Editor’s Note: Two SA-20 Extreme spec models were constructed late in the production run of anniversary cars. Their serial number are 03-0010SA and 03-0011SA. Both vehicles were sold to S7 customers with the belief of being a one-off model. 03-0010SA stayed in the United States while 03-0011SA was sent to Mexico. Neither car was driven by their original purchasers.

Back story – The previous owner/buyer is a well known exotic car collector.

It was told that the owner had ordered one or two Saleen S7 Competition Twin Turbos and Steve Saleen tried to convince him to purchase one of the last SA-20s. However, the purchaser was not interested in the Mustang, it wasn’t exotic enough, nor possessed enough power. Steve convinced him that he could “hook” him up with a one-off SA-20 with a more “exotic” setup. So, the sales pitch worked and he got the SA-20 too. Steve and his crew got to work with creating the SA-20 Extreme plus. It was told that it might have been kicked up a notch from the Extreme package. The car that Saleen created became the SA-20 #0010 with the Extreme package and enhanced PowerFlash.

No more grainy photos or secondhand hearsay… she will be kept nice, pure and original for posterity in a climate-controlled garage with the other Saleens. SA20-10E has only 247 original miles, and keeping in mind that I will exercise this pony a couple times a year, but I wouldn’t expect mileage to show but about 300 to 350 after 10 to 15 more years.

My plan would be, if I can a) convince the wife and b) be available: is to bring the car to the Saleen Open House in Sept., so that Steve can be reintroduced to her after a 12 year lapse, but to get an autograph also.

My loss is your gain!! For sale is the first year run of the Ultimate Bad Boy Mustangs. This vehicle was commissioned by Tim Porter and built by Saleen for the promotion of the 2007 Great American Run. a 3,000 mile cross country road race. Originally 25 cars were slated to be built, but the actual production numbers were 9. 8 black cars and 1 red. This vehicle was raced in the event under the name of “Half Evil Racing” car #333. It is featured in the documentary film “The Great American Run”, by National Lampoon. These cars RARELY come up on the market so don’t miss your chance to own a limited production collector’s dream. Car has 22,000 miles, garaged, and driven once a month. This is an EXTREMELY unique mustang. The S302-E Came in a small handful of varieties in the years 2008-09. The Extreme models have a hand built, forged, 5.0 supercharged v8 that produced 620 horses and 600ft/lb torque. This was the car they used in 2007 as a prototype for this engine, shaker hood/supercharger combo, and their 2008 design. To my knowledge it is the only 2007 model that has this equipment. The other, still rare, 2007 Saleen Extreme cars have standard bore 4.6 GT engine and produce 550 horsepower. The sticker price on the 4.6 extremes was still over 70K, and you couldn’t get your hands on one of these very rare 5.0 Extremes for under 83k. Only the limited edition ‘Dark Horse’ model was equipped as well with the Shaker hood. This car blows away a GT500 in every aspect of performance, and rarity. At the very bottom of this page, the last picture shows information on the car when it was done with Saleen engineering and given to a Saleen dealer in Michigan for sale. This Extreme should be compared with the likes of a Super Snake prototype. The Saleen body & styling are the pinnacle of class and design. You won’t find another mustang example like this ever again. Put it in your collection ,or have one of the baddest drivers on the road.
